Sarah Hartmann is a New York–based director and writer whose work in musical theater, opera, and symphonic performance spans the United States, Asia, Australia, and Europe. She is known for evocative storytelling and ambitious, cross-cultural, interdisciplinary collaborations.

Sarah’s recent work includes international productions of Anastasia in Australia and Japan, following the Broadway production and U.S. National Tours. She has worked with leading institutions including Lincoln Center, Tuacahn Center for the Arts, The Vineyard Theatre, Hartford Stage, The Old Globe, Geva Theatre, Chautauqua Theater Company, Charlottesville Opera, and others. Her production of The Revolutionists received the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble.

Sarah is the Co-Founder and President of Old Rare New Productions, where she develops new work such as GRIT, a Sundance Festival Semi-Finalist. She previously served as Artistic Director of Broadway Dreams, leading global training programs and fostering cross-cultural artistic collaboration.

Her work also extends to radio and television, including Encore! (Disney+) and CTC On the Air (host and producer, WRFA). Sarah has taught and mentored artists at The Juilliard School, NYU, The New School, LIU Post, and UC Santa Barbara. She holds a BA from Barnard College and an MA from Columbia University.
