Sarah Hartmann

Born and raised in Wyoming, Sarah is a director and writer whose love of evocative and playful storytelling brought her to New York where she studied at Barnard College and Columbia University.  

With both deep and wide-ranging interests, Sarah has directed for theater, opera, symphony, radio, and is currently developing projects for film and TV.  She has worked on Broadway and across the country at theaters such as Hartford Stage, The Old Globe, Chautauqua Theater Company, Charlottesville Opera, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and Playhouse on Park where her production of The Revolutionists won the CT Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble.  A passionate educator, she has also worked with students at The Growing Studio, NYU, UC Santa Barbara, and the Juilliard School.  

She can currently be seen in an episode of the Disney+ show Encore! and her upcoming work includes directing the National Tour of Anastasia as well as projects in development with her creative partner, Helen Cespedes.
